What’s Really Important

Our values affect every area of our life. It is so important to be clear on what they are, and live by them. There are so many mixed messages coming at us and our children today from a variety of sources, that a sound foundation is critical.

Start early clarifying values with your children. As you do so you may discover some unresolved issues of your own, and get to strengthen your own values, as you help your children build theirs.

Determine your priorities and discover upon what these are based. A child’s emotional security depends on strong values on which he or she can depend.

Teaching and Inspiring

As you help to build and clarify values for your children, you will find yourself in a position to encourage your child to follow his or her inner passions and dreams. Teaching comes in many forms. When mistakes are made focus on the positive, and what is possible. Your child will learn that he or she will succeed the next time. There are no failures.

Having trained for several years in martial arts, I have found body awareness is a critical element of living a fully conscious and inspired life. It is so easy to get lost in our heads on a daily basis, and being aware of our movements and feelings contributes greatly to our reaching our potential.

Teaching children how to reach their potential and live a life of passion is the greatest gift we can give. This is a day to day process that requires that we be the best we can be so that our kids have a model that inspires. There’s no need for anyone to buy into all the models of insanity out there, when there is so much we can all contribute to the betterment of each other and our world.
