Relationship Blues

In an utter mess

Whether friend, cousin or mate

Makes no difference at all

The pain and the suffering

Is all we recall

Children and divorce

Is not entirely new

But has been responsible

For a tantrum or two

So sending our blues away

Is our most definite aim

Getting our lives together

And eliminating the blame

Learning to relate

Is such a wonderful trait

One that should not be left

Entirely to Fate

Getting confused

Not knowing what to do

Is part of the process

Of which we work through

There are a few simple steps

To help alleviate this mess

And with patience and love

We will certainly rise above

Putting aside pride

Having nothing to hide

Is certainly a key

To breaking ourselves free

Thinking we know

What we only perceive

Is one of the reasons

We are trapped by what we believe

There’s three sides to every story

I once had been told

His, hers and the truth

Is how things unfold

When looking for excuses

No need to fuss around

Anyone will do

Is what I have found

It’s hard to make progress

When all we want to do

Is even the score

No matter what’s true

Denying our part

In what has occurred

Is not only insulting

But downright unheard

Coming to terms

With our strengths

And our faults too

Is definitely what’s needed

For our lives to ring true

We’re only responsible

For what we can do

Don’t expect others to change

Or pacify you

Relating to others

In a more enlightened way

Sets the stage for many

Arguments and grudges

To simply fade away

Opening our hearts

To what really is true

Will resonate with many

Whose virtues are few

Being the one

Who is able to see

Beyond all fear and envy

Reveals a magnificent mystery

We’re then given the key

That is most precious and dear

By opening to love

And releasing our fear

Others will respond

In whatever which way

But one thing is for sure

You have something important to say

So relationship blues

May have you down now

But your power within

Will resolve things somehow

The key is to Be

Who you really Are

Rising above

Reach for the stars.
