Positive Role Models
Positive role models are such an important factor in the lives of every family. We will learn about people from the past as well as the present, who possess these qualities, and have made a compelling impact in the lives of others. There are so many unsung heroes from whom we can learn so much. We will discuss people who are well known, as well as folks about whom you most likely have never heard.Unique Qualities Role models come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be a dear friend, respected teacher, parent, relative, or athlete. These are people who are compassionate, trustworthy, possess high values and standards, are able and willing to forgive, are drawn to community service, possess courage and strength, accept and work through challenges, are humble, peaceful, wise, loving, discerning, able to admit mistakes, are self fulfilled, achieve goals, are committed to what they do, possess effective habits, and have a strong presence of spirit. These people motivate others to do their best, set a positive example, facilitate constructive change, lend a helping hand when needed, and increase people’s feelings of self worth. For example, a parent is empowered in setting limits for their children by modeling successful parenting skills. Patterning behaviors also help to build morals and life enhancing values. In a world filled with models of insanity, it is crucial to be very discriminating and discerning about the people with whom we associate. Positive role models fill this most precious need. Whether it’s learning to attain goals or develop other worthwhile pursuits, there is much that we can acquire and apply by observing and modeling the characteristics and qualities of these most precious souls.
