Intuitions

Listening for, and becoming aware of, our intuitions paves the way to a new kind of knowing. When we learn to trust ourselves, at least that part of us that is well connected to a lot of neat stuff, we are able to make a positive difference in the world.

Many Sources

There are many paths and avenues to this knowledge. It may arrive from an outside source such as a book, movie, or complete stranger, but our inside source is what validates this knowledge as true. We may get messages in our dreams, or ideas may just pop into our head when we are doing some simple task or activity.

They may come through all of our senses including our inner sense. They are there all the time, but we need to listen for them and thus increase our awareness. If we do not understand what these intuitive signals mean at first, that’s okay. The more we practice being aware of them, our understanding will increase.

Everday Hunches

Learning to pay attention to our hunches teaches us more about our intuition, and opens the way to more important messages. Eventually we will have an inner guide that we trust in making all small and large decisions. A lot of times our decisions are already made; we just need to trust ourselves and follow through.

Tuning In

When we don’t use our intuitive muscle, it actually weakens. Aware parenting involves not only being role models for our children by following our hunches, but teaching them to do it as well. A child can lose a lot of emotional baggage, by tuning in to their true wisdom and knowledge.

We can do some simple things to help us tune in such as: *creating a dream journal, *clear mind of distractions by visualizing a blank slate or chalkboard within our mind, *play a game by guessing how many emails you have on a given day or how many voicemails, *notice when you receive a sensation in your gut, *when you taste or smell something connect it with a memory that surfaces, *keep a notebook and write down your ideas and apparent coincidences, *spend some time in nature, *pay attention to your body sensations including any pain and figure out the message it reveals, *spend less time on the computer, playing video games, listening to the radio and stereo, so that by giving your physical ear a rest, your inner ear gets to expand.

So by listening to our intuitions more and more, we are able to build up confidence in our inner senses, and rely less on all the “borrowed knowledge” that is circulating on the outside. Our kids had this talent down when they were very young, but unfortunately were indoctrinated out of it by a lot of misinformation. Let’s now reopen that channel for them and ourselves.
