Models of Insanity
Models of insanity surround us at every corner. Turn on the television, and you are flooded with plenty of examples of chaos, destructive behavior, and unfulfillment. We were raised with misguided perceptions that have been handed down through the ages. It's just that we do not know any better, so we base our decisions on these perceptions. But on the upside, it is most definitely possible to wake up and become aware of what’s actually happening in our world, and make appropriate changes in our point of view for the benefit of ourselves and others. Teenage behavior is directly affected by the specific roles models and information to which children are exposed. It’s important to explore a few areas where we take things for granted, because “that is the way it has always been”. And that is the trap that keeps us stuck. Also we get hypnotized and overly influenced by the statements of so called “experts”. Just because a person has a few letters at the end of his or her name does not automatically make that person correct or the source of valid information. It’s not so important that you agree with every aspect of what is being addressed here, but what is crucial is that you learn to question. Don’t assume as valid, without any direct proof, what is presented to you. For example, just because a billion dollar company hires an ad agency and PR firm to build a brand, that does not ensure that those products and services are beneficial. Beyond The Obvious What gets presented to us on the surface is often taken for granted as correct, and the folks promoting these ideas and concepts count on that. They realize that most people will not question authority, or will not question what they have learned to believe is true, while those very theories and so called facts may have changed as a result of current and previous research and discoveries. People and companies that are promoting their wares have a vested interest in not disclosing all of the information. The last thing they want to happen is to have their business revenues decline, or lose some points in the polls. This is not always the case, but more often than not unfortunately. So let’s learn to look beyond the surface, and obtain several opinions from professionals, and educate ourselves as to the reality of the situation. I will present several examples of what I consider to be models of insanity in areas to which we have blinded ourselves, and have continued down outmoded paths, and then suggest some alternatives. Again, what is important here is to explore, learn, get all the facts on the table, and come to your own conclusions on which to base your decisions.
