Here And Now

Here and NowWhich is Right here, Right now Has become puzzling somehow Much easier to drift In and out of here Thinking that our problems Will simply disappear Focusing on the past And the future too Does not lend itself To a solution that’s true Running around in circles Is the new classic dance That keeps us imprisoned In a spell binding trance Forcing or resisting Does not work at all It merely exhausts us Or don’t you recall Lost in our mind Is a dreadful fate It’s so critical we wake up Before it’s too late So hard to focus One moment at a time Too many distractions That keep us all blind So what are we afraid of Right now and Right here Based on our actions It’s not entirely clear Pretending to be happy When all we want to do Is hide and withdraw From all that is new Stay focused in the present And we all soon will learn The benefits are many Much more than we can discern Our comfort zones protect us For awhile at least But we are quick to discover Our aliveness has decreased So what’s next on the schedule What else can we do Fill up our lives with duties And tasks to pursue Life soon becomes An emotionless trip Meaningless and dull Is all we can predict But there must be something more This certainly cannot it As a child I could remember My dreams quite a bit There must be a clue That can be found somewhere And I have a hunch that it is Right now and Right here So learning to stay present In the Here and Now Speeds up the process Of creating a “Wow” In the moment Is where our power resides It’s our job to be present On this mysterious ride Practice makes perfect As the saying goes The better we get There’s less worries and woes So making this all real Is our mission and task This is not a dress rehearsal We’ve figured out at last.
