Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method is a movement therapy that concentrates on the relationship between thought and movement. A person is able to move with less effort resulting in physical gains, but there is also an increase in creativity and one’s overall awareness.

The Originator

The founder of this method was Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. who was a Russian physicist, mechanical engineer, and judo expert. He was born in the early 1900’s and passed on in 1984. He studied many health related disciplines as well as neurophysiology and psychology.

Somatic Education

This method uses very gentle movement and directed focus and attention to achieve results. By increasing your range of motion, you improve your coordination and flexibility, and are thus much more efficient with your movements. All this is based on scientific principles of physics and biomechanics.

Many Benefits

Feldenkrais is helpful to all regardless of age. It is never too early to start. When mentoring children with high levels of anxiety, this teaches peaceful relaxation and leads to more balance and harmony. It has also been known to alleviate acute and chronic pain.
