Child Education

Child education leaves much to be desired in our current system. It has not provided the ideal training for developing independent, creative thinkers. Many talented teachers are frustrated by having their hands tied in what they can teach, and how they can teach it. Much needless restriction and red tape hamper their best efforts. Because of this many teachers have left the field.

The fortunate few students are able to gain a higher quality of education through private schools, and even home schooling. But this is not the norm. Children are being progressed through the grades without proper attention given to how well they are doing. A close friend of mine taught at several major universities over the years. At one point he had a number of students that could not read or write. Now this is a Model of Insanity.

Many student athletes are given a free ride at many schools, with no thought of how well they will do after college, especially if they do not receive a pro contract in their particular sport. This is total nonsense.

Transforming Education

In order to engage children in learning, education needs to be fun and interesting. Children need to learn how to think, and not just memorize “borrowed knowledge” that has been handed down over the years, and may not even be valid.

Fun and excitement is natural to a wholesome learning and teaching process. Rewards are built in as each student is encouraged to contribute to the process. This breeds creativity, innovative thinking, and an enlarged fund of knowledge. Some sort of award or compensation can be given based on the value of the knowledge contributed. This type of incentive will increase and maintain motivation.

More Enlightened Approach

By moving beyond a stereotyped curriculum, to one geared to discovering, utilizing and developing a child’s natural talents and abilities, much progress can be made. Creative games of all sorts can be utilized to engage children.

An enlightened educator takes a more balanced approach to education. He or she teaches the basics of language and communication skills, while incorporating general health and nutrition, exercise, total body care, how to utilize the creativeness inherent in everyone, and even a balanced approach to sexuality.

Many a behavior problem can be avoided by an honest approach to teaching sexuality, minus all the guilt and nonsense quite often attached. After many years of working with children both in and out of the school system, I have observed that a great many teenage problems are directly connected to a mis-channeling of primitive sexual energies. Dealing with a sexually maturing child in an enlightened way would eliminate most teenage problems.

Approaching child education in an honest and straightforward way, with emphasis on the highest and best intentions for each child, is absolutely essential. This will produce a much more well-rounded student in all departments of life. Children are eager to learn, and desperately want to express their true talents and abilities. Let us all do our best to make this possible by transforming child education into a vehicle that maximizes each child's potential.
